Description

This five week bridging course is designed to help learners take the next step towards studying GCSE Maths in 2026/27. It provides a supportive transition into GCSE level learning, revisiting key mathematical concepts and building the skills needed to succeed from day one.  

What will I learn on this course?
Throughout the course, learners will strengthen their understanding of essential GCSE foundations, including number skills, fractions, decimals and percentages, ratio, measures, and shape and space. Lessons are practical, clear, and confidence boosting, helping learners reconnect with maths in a positive and manageable way. By the end of the course, learners will: • Rebuild confidence and resilience in maths • Secure strong core number skills • Develop fluency with every day, real life maths • Become familiar with GCSE style thinking, language, and questions • Identify and address gaps in knowledge ahead of starting GCSE study

Is this course suitable for me?
This course is ideal for learners who are planning to start a GCSE Maths programme in September 2026 and want to feel fully prepared. You need to be 19 years and over and have no GCSE 4/C or equivalent qualifications in Maths. Before you begin your studies, an initial assessment will take place in order to help us to place you on the most suitable course.

Is there anything else I need to know about the course?
This course is ideal for learners who; • Want to better prepare for a GCSE Maths programme • Want to build confidence at Level 2 Maths to progress onto an accredited qualification • Need a gentle and supportive approach to learning

No additional costs. All materials will be provided

What could I go on to do after this course?
Your tutor can talk to you about other subject related courses and progression routes available, such as GCSE Maths, which are run through MAE. If you need further advice please telephone 01634 338400 Medway Adult Education works with many partners locally such as UCA and the University of Kent. Information about their courses can be found in our centres, cafe and Moodle.

What is the attendance policy?
In order to get the most out of your course, you will need to attend as many sessions as possible. We recommend at least 90%. If you do have a holiday booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcomes. If you are unavoidably ill or unable to attend, please contact 01634 338400 so that we can let your tutor know and so they can send you any work you may have missed.

How are IT/Digital skills used and enhanced on this course?
You may need to use the internet for some of your course- using a tablet, laptop or computer. The tutor will speak to you about useful websites, apps and online resources which you may be asked to use for homework.
