Description

Whether you would like to learn new creative skills or to look into the possibility of a new craft-based career, MAE Community Learning courses can provide you with a stepping stone to progress.

This exciting course will introduce you to a range of creative techniques and materials. We will work with various mediums, including traditional, the unusual and recycled. Some projects may be of an abstract and experimental nature, others more traditional. We will work using various themes and techniques and your tutor will encourage you to develop your creative skills whilst incorporating your own individuality and style into projects. You will be encouraged to use a sketchbook to enhance your learning between sessions and further develop your learning and personal practice.  

What will I learn on this course?
Learners will: 1. Experiment with at least 2 different techniques. 2. Experiment with at least 2 different media. 3. Create at least one piece from a media and technique you have tested.

Is this course suitable for me?
This course in an excellent starting point for beginners who want to explore creativity or those with more experience that would like to try new/modern approaches and improve creativity. As well as improving art skills you will be encouraged to practise using sketchbook and undertake research to increase your knowledge and skills.

Is there anything I need to know about the course?
For the first session we will be using watercolours (pans or tubes are fine). Other materials will be needed later in the course and will be discussed in class. Please do not purchase materials until we confirm the course will run.

Attendance Policy
In order to get the most out of your course you will need to attend as many sessions as possible. We recommend at least 85%. If you do have a holiday booked during term time please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcomes. If you are unavoidably ill or unable to attend, please contact 01634 338400 so that we can let your tutor know, and so they can send you any work you may have missed

How are digital skills used and enhanced on this course
Information technology may be used to introduce skills, techniques, and the work of other artists along with safe internet usage. Whilst you do not need any IT skills to enrol on this course, please do speak to the tutor if this is an area you would like to explore.
