What Will I Learn On This Course?
• Reading- understanding simple texts such as signs, notices, forms and short paragraphs. • Writing- constructing short sentences and paragraphs, using punctuation and spelling common words • Speaking and listening- taking part in basic conversations, asking and answering questions and following instructions • Practical English- Language for everyday tasks like shopping, travel, health and work- related communication

Is This Course Suitable For Me?
You need to be 19 years and over and have no GCSE 4/C or equivalent qualifications in English. Before you begin your studies, an initial assessment will take place in order to help us to place you on the most suitable course.

Will There Be Additional Costs?
No additional costs. All materials will be provided

What Could I Go On To Do After This Course?
Your tutor can talk to you about other subject related courses and progression routes available, including Functional skills entry level 3 which are run through MAE. If you need further advice, please telephone 01634 338400 Medway Adult Education works with many partners locally such as UCA and the University of Kent. Information about their courses can be found in our centres, cafe and Moodle.

What Is The Attendance Policy?
In order to get the most out of your course, you will need to attend as many sessions as possible. We recommend at least 90%. If you do have a holiday booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcomes. If you are unavoidably ill or unable to attend, please contact 01634 338400 so that we can let your tutor know and so they can send you any work you may have missed

How are IT/Digital skills used and enhanced on this course?
You may need to use the internet for some of your course- using a tablet, laptop or computer. The tutor will speak to you about useful websites, apps and online resources which you may be asked to use for homework
