Description
This is an online course. You need to use the internet and have access to a tablet, laptop or computer. After enrolling, your tutor will give you instructions on how to join your course online and how to use online resources.
This programme introduces you to how you can support children to learn. You may be looking to support children in your family with their homework or considering following a career path as a teaching assistant in schools. Through this course you will begin to explore the best ways to provide support and encourage them to learn.
What will I learn on this course?
1. Develop an understanding of and be able explain Behavioural Learning Theory
2. How maths is taught and be able to demonstrate some activities to support this
3. Explore how writing is promoted in schools
Is this course suitable for me?
This course is designed to give you an insight into where you may like to develop your studies further and gives you the opportunity to as the tutor any questions you may have regarding the progression courses.
Is there anything I need to know about the course?
Learners will be expected to attend all sessions and be prepared to complete any work set by the tutor– these need to be completed on a computer or laptop and emailed to the tutor before the next session.
As these sessions will be over zoom we ask the following: you have a good internet connection; if you have children at home please be mindful; you are in as comfortable and private a space as possible; any device with Alexa, Echo or similar is switched off prior to session start.
Zoom invites will be sent out just prior to the start of the course.
You will need to attend with a pen and paper to use for note taking.

Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
Please note that progression onto the ‘Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools’ course will be dependent on your progress on this course and on tutor reference.

How are digital skills used and enhanced on this course
You may have the opportunity to use computers with internet access in class time. You may need to use the internet for some or all of your course - using a mobile phone, tablet or computer. The tutor will speak to you about useful websites, apps and online resources which you may be asked to use for homework.
Attendance Policy
In order to get the most out of your course you will need to attend as many sessions as possible. We recommend at least 90%. If you do have a holiday booked during term time please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcomes. If you are unavoidably ill or unable to attend, please contact 01634 338400 so that we can let your tutor know, and so they can send you any work you may have missed
