Description

This is a level 2A course for those who have attended Drawing & Painting previously or who have some drawing and painting experience.

This course is designed for those with some experience, to enhance confidence and creativity in art by exploring a diverse range of subjects and media while drawing inspiration from both historical and contemporary artists. Participants will develop their drawing skills through observation and practice, working with various types of surfaces and incorporating mathematical concepts like proportion and symmetry. The structured sessions encourage personal expression through individual and group projects, ensuring that each learner receives tailored targets based on their unique starting point, ultimately resulting in improved artistic ability and a collection of
completed works.

This is a drawing and painting course level 2A, upon completing this course, learners can progress onto Level 2B or 2C Painting and Drawing class but cannot redo this course at the same level or book onto lower-level courses (such as Drawing & Painting 1A,1B or 1C). Learners can book onto any other Art specialism or Creative & Culture courses from 1A upwards.

What Will I Learn On This Course?
By the end of the course, learners will: 1. Explore drawing and painting techniques using at least two materials from the following: pencil, graphite, charcoal, watercolour, acrylics, soft pastels, or pen & ink. 2. Create a minimum of two original artworks, taking inspiration from a range of artists’ styles and techniques. 3. Participate in group discussions by responding to at least two artworks, to develop creative and critical thinking skills. Whether you would like to learn new creative skills or to investigate the possibility of a new art-based career, MAE Community Learning courses can provide you with a stepping stone to progress

Is This Course Suitable For Me?
This is a drawing and painting course level 2A for those with some drwing and painting experience or those who have attended previous courses. Upon completing this course, learners can progress onto Level 2B or 2C Painting and Drawing class but cannot redo this course at the same level or book onto lower-level courses (such as Drawing & Painting 1A,1B or 1C). Learners can book onto any other Art specialism or Creative & Culture courses from 1A upwards.

Is There Anything Else I Need To Know About This Course?
Please be aware that whilst this course is practical in nature some sessions will include theory and professional related training such as H&S, risk assessments, public liability etc Learners will need the following tools and equipment for the first session - please do not purchase until you are sure the course will run: • A4 or A3 sketchbook or cartridge paper to draw on • HB/2B pencil and sharpener • A kneaded putty eraser / eraser Assessment will be an ongoing part of your learning, beginning with an initial review to guide your learning path and continuing throughout the course to support your progress toward personal goals and achievement.

Will There Be Additional Costs?
Learners are expected to provide their own materials for most activities; however, easels and drawing boards will be available for use. A list of required materials will be shared at relevant points during the course. Please speak with the tutor before making significant purchases.

What Could I Go On To Do After This Course?
This is a drawing and painting course level 2A, upon completing this course, learners can progress onto Level 2B or 2C Painting and Drawing class but cannot redo this course at the same level or book onto lower-level courses (such as Drawing & Painting 1A,1B or 1C). Learners can book onto any other Art specialism or Creative & Culture courses from 1A upwards. Your tutor can talk to you about another subject related course available. Your progression course is Drawing & Painting intermediate to advanced or you may wish to explore our accredited BTEC level 2 in Art & Design skills. Medway Adult Education works with many partners locally such as MidKent College, Medway School of Arts and the University of Kent; information about their courses can be found in our studios, café and on Moodle. What Is The Attendance Policy?
Multiple sessions- To get the most out of your course you will need to attend as many sessions as possible. We recommend at least 90%. If you do have a holiday booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcomes. If you are unavoidably ill or unable to attend, please contact 01634 338400 so that we can let your tutor know, and so they can send you any work you may have missed
