Description
This course is designed to support adult learners in developing essential English skills for everyday life, work and further learning. It provides a supportive and inclusive environment for learners to build confidence in reading, writing, speaking and listening with content tailored to real world contexts.
What will I learn on this course?
• Speaking and listening- communicate clearly in everyday situations, follow instructions and participate in group discussions
• Reading- understand simple texts such as sign forms, leaflets and short paragraphs
• Writing- Construct basic sentences, complete forms and use punctuation and spelling appropriately
• Practical English- language for daily tasks like shopping, travel and health related
Is this course suitable for me?
You need to be 19 years and over and have no GCSE 4/C or equivalent qualifications in English.
Before you begin your studies, an initial assessment will take place in order to help us to place you on the most suitable course.

Attendance Policy
In order to get the most out of your course, you will need to attend as many sessions as possible. We recommend at least 90%. If you do have a holiday booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcomes. If you are unavoidably ill or unable to attend, please contact 01634 338400 so that we can let your tutor know and so they can send you any work you may have missed
How are digital skills used and enhanced on this course
You may need to use the internet for some of your course- using a tablet, laptop or computer. The tutor will speak to you about useful websites, apps and online resources which you may be asked to use for homework.
