What will I learn on this course?
• Reading- understand and interpret a range of texts including articles, reports and persuasive writing • Writing- produce structured written work for different purposes, using correct spelling, grammar and punctuation • Speaking and listening- take part in formal discussion, express opinions clearly and adapt language for different audiences • Workplace English- communicate effectively in professional settings, including report writing and presentations

Is this course suitable for me?
You need to be 19 years and over and have no GCSE 4/C or equivalent qualifications in English. Before you begin your studies, an initial assessment will take place in order to help us to place you on the most suitable course.

Will there be additional costs?
No additional costs. All materials will be provided

What could I go on to do after this course?
Your tutor can talk to you about other subject related courses and progression routes available, GCSE English, which are run through MAE. If you need further advice, please telephone 01634 338400 Medway Adult Education works with many partners locally such as UCA and the University of Kent. Information about their courses can be found in our centres, cafe and Moodle.

Attendance Policy
In order to get the most out of your course, you will need to attend as many sessions as possible. We recommend at least 90%. If you do have a holiday booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcomes. If you are unavoidably ill or unable to attend, please contact 01634 338400 so that we can let your tutor know and so they can send you any work you may have missed

How are digital skills used and enhanced on this course
You may need to use the internet for some of your course- using a tablet, laptop or computer. The tutor will speak to you about useful websites, apps and online resources which you may be asked to use for homework.

E-Learning Etiquette
Please make sure that you and everyone at home are fully dressed when you are joining classes online, and that no personal information (address, bank details) can be seen.
